Taunton Chamber of Commerce Website Launched
Taunton Chamber of Commerce are a collection of businesses who have formed an organisation dedicated to the promotion and well-being of business in the local area. Their group also provides local businesses with a collective voice and networking opportunities, and local businesses are encouraged to seek membership as many of its interests and discussions affect all in the local district.
The Chamber’s previous website, whilst good for it’s time when launched, had started to look a bit dated. Additionally, the Chamber did not have control over the website’s content and were reliant on their previous website developer’s assistance whenever updates were needed.
Somerset Web Services were therefore approached to design and construct a new website with two main targets: firstly to allow the Chamber to update their own content, and secondly to incorporate as many modern features as possible.
Using the red from the Chamber’s logo along with a black and grey to form the colour scheme, we built the new website using the WordPress CMS which allows the Chamber to make their own updates to the content as needed.
As well as being responsive (compatible with mobile devices such as phones as tablets), the new website has the following advanced features:
- Home page slider showcasing key parts of Taunton
- Full member directory with profile and contact details for each business that’s part of the Chamber. Businesses can be filtered by category or alphabetically
- Calendar page detailing the next Chamber and member events – these are also dynamically displayed in the website’s footer meaning they are available on every page
- Profiles of each member of the Chamber Committee
- Digital copies of the current newsletter sent out to all members, as well as copies of previous newsletters
- Interactive FAQs that open and close when clicked
- Online contact form for sending messages directly to the Chamber
- Advertising space for members of the Chamber to promote their business
