Latest advice as cyber-attacks threat is heightened

None of us would be surprised to hear that there is a real risk of a cyber-attack at the moment given the current invasion of Ukraine by Russia.

Many website owners are blissfully unaware as to whether their site is vulnerable or indeed if they have any protection at all against a cyber-attack.

Attacks happen every day, most are warded off by minimal intervention, some are not.

Those serious attacks can leave your site crippled, hold you to ransom or even destroy your website altogether.

With the UK government alerting the country today that there is currently a heightened risk, you need to decide what level of risk you are willing to take. What would it mean to you if your website went down? If someone hacked sensitive data from it? If they held you to ransom?

It is well worth speaking to your website developer to discuss what protection you currently have and whether that sits alongside your comfort zone.

Even smaller websites can be at risk of a cyber-attack

It doesn’t matter the size of your website, you can still be targeted by a cyber-attack. We’ve seen a large number of attacks coming from several countries over the last few weeks and have implemented country-level blocks on even some of our smaller websites.

If you look at the current situation, would you be surprised if a large number of cyber attacks were launched? If the answer is no, you should pick up the phone now to ensure your website and any data held on it is safe.
