Phone networks have taken extra care to ensure the hundreds of thousands of spectators, athletes and workers involved with the Olympics will have sufficient phone and wifi coverage.

Thirty phone masts have been placed across London’s Olympic Park – fourteen of them inside the stadiums that will be used.

BT also claims to have the created the UK’s largest wifi-installation.

Stuart Newstead, the chair of the body representing UK mobile operators, said “It’s as well prepared as it can be”.
