Backing up your Websites

Recently it was reported that web hosting company 123-reg had accidentally deleted many of its customers websites.

Although it’s not clear how many customers were actually affected, the company’s social media has been flooded with thousands of customers’ angry comments and complaints.

123-reg have since admitted that they do not have a backup of all their customers websites, leaving many businesses stuck without a functioning website.

What we must learn from this is that it’s important to take sufficient backups for your website and keep them secure in case of scenarios such as this.

At Somerset Web Services we offer an ‘all in one’ hosting and support package for our customers, which includes a minimum of at least 1 backup per day. These backups are stored offsite in multiple locations meaning a fresh copy of your website will always be available in case of emergencies.
