Mobile devices such as phones and tablets offer the same Internet services as computers, including the ability to browse websites, check email, use search engines and access social media.

Given the ability to use such devices anywhere, it is no surprise to see their usage constantly increasing. In 2013, the number of mobile devices accessing the Internet is expected to surpass one billion.

To account for this rise, modern websites should offer a mobile version of their content – a reduced alternative that is optimised to cater for mobile devices’ smaller screens.
