Today, 7th December 2012, Jeremy Browne, MP for Taunton Deane, formally opened the Victoria House office building which has recently undergone a multi-million pound refurbishment by the owners Summerfield Developments.
Victoria House was originally built and opened as a shirt making factory for Van Heusen in October 1962.
In the early 80’s the building was converted to an office building and has gradually been modified to accommodate the needs of a thriving business community in Taunton, including the offices for Somerset Web Services.
Now, approximately 50 years to the day since the original opening, the building has undergone a transformation with many new features including: a state-of-the-art security system, a comprehensive energy-efficient ‘low carbon’ glazing system, new carpeting throughout and contemporary indoor lighting and decor. These deliver a comfortable working atmosphere for our software developers, web designers and meeting rooms for our clients.

In the opening ceremony Jeremy Browne stated “he was delighted to see a large investment in the local economy and prestigious offices for the rapidly growing number of companies in the business district close to the centre of Taunton. The new look building is great for Taunton and Somerset and is a highly visible signal that the business economy is continuing to expand.”
